I am stumped with finding my great, great grandfather's ancestors. He got lost during the Civil War in Hawkins Co. Tenn. The rumor is that the family came out of Erie, PA. Michael Reynolds shows up again in Hawkins Co. after the war and marries a neighbor woman. His former family (with my great grandfather William Riley Reynolds, moved to Indiana while he disappeared during the war. The Reynolds famiies were around French Lick, Indiana. I have gotten stopped in my research in Tenn. during the civil war. Does anyone know about this family line???

Hi! I really like this site. I'm sorry to say that I don't know much about my Reynolds heritage. I do know that I had a great, great, great, great, grandfather who was a stowaway on a ship from England. He was dropped off near the St. Lawrence river, i think. Then he went on to start a gasket company in Canada which went on to become "Canadian Gasket" and "Acorn" if anyone has any information at all, it would be greatly appreciated. please email me

What a pleasure to find ancestors on your (our) site! I am of the Reyno Arkansas>Jackson County IL>Buncombe County NC branch. My direct lineage: Dennis Allyn Reynolds, Curtis Dennis Reynolds (1918-1995), Ulric Herbert Reynolds I, Madison Augustus Reynolds (1865-1909), Dennis Wells Reynolds (1842-1924), all of Reyno AR; and James Madison (or is it James Monroe?) (1815-1898), Millenton (Millington?) David (1792-1842) of Jackson County IL; Millenton F (1767- ), the later of Buncombe County NC. Lastmost is possibly John Reynolds (b/Scotland?). Dennis Wells' diary lists an ancestor named Bartemins Reynolds, possibly Millenton F's brother, and possibly Governor or other colonial official in Georgia. Family records suggest a Mathias Reynolds in the Barren County KY 1810 census, also a Robert Reynolds who married Margaret Moore. Their son may be John Reynolds (b/1788), Governor of Illinois 1830-1834. Any hits out there?

A pleasant surprise to see your site. Have traced my line back to the 1768 marriage of Edward Reynolds to Sarah Dunning at Corsham, Wiltshire, England. Their grandson Henry Reynolds, born in Devizes, Wiltshire who married Fanny Smallbones, at Enford, Wiltshirein 1829, had an inn called the Greyhound at Newbury, Berkshire. Edward, their younger son migrated to Australia in 1864.Their other son Henry was living in London. Is anyone connected to this family?

Good afternoon: I am looking for any Reynolds/Gibson and Reynolds/Green(e) connections in the Richmond/Robeson/Scotland County areas of North Carolina and the Marlboro/Chesterfield/Dillion/Darling counties of South Carolina. I had an uncle we just called Uncle "S" - his name was Ester Carlton Reynolds and he married Grace Gibson and I believe one of their daughters married a Green -- I know they are tied together some how - but the Reynolds and the Gibsons are definatley tied together -- Grace Gibson is my great aunt - I am working on the Gibson famiy tree but would like to find as many branches as possible --

Great Place... Am Looking for information on Allen Ira Reynolds who was my ggrandfather.. born 4/3/1835 in Chazze, NY, or Scotland. Was married to Carrie Etter/Etta Walker b. 10/09/1854 in Kansas or Illnoise. Allen Ira's siblings were Nancy married to John Lance, Edwin/Edgar/Edward Reynolds, and Henry Reynolds. We don't have any information before Allen Ira Rynolds. (We are Reynolds lost) We have a sworn statement from one of Allen Ira's children stating he was born in New York but family lore says the four siblings came from Scotland during the patatoe famin. After arriving in NY they all started out west and Nancy's husband, John Lance was shot in Texas. My ggrandfather came out west to Oregon and the rest of the siblings wer supposed to return to NY. We don't know if they ever made it back there or went someplace else, we can't find any documention one way or another. We lost that side of the family. We don't know if they were born in NY or just landed there. Help some one please! We are the lost Reynolds family.. Thanks WandaLena

I've enjoyed this website many times. I think it's great. I've been trying to find one of my paternal grandfathers for some time, without any luck. His name is GEORGE REYNOLDS, and he was born somewhere, sometime in Virginia, married a Margaret Cooley. They had a daughter named Dora Mae. George & Margaret divorced and she remarried a man named Crowe. Dora Mae went by the name of Dora Mae Reynolds Crowe (don't know whether she was adopted or not). George died somewhere, sometime in Kentucky. Margaret died in 1935 in Dodge, Kansas. That's all I have on George & Margaret. Not much more on Dora Mae. Can anyone furnish me with anymore info? Sure would be appreicated. Judy James Drake

I hope someone out there can help me to locate some family I may have in the San Fransisco area. My mother’s father was James Joseph Reynolds (1903-1957) who was one of 4 children born to Mary Ellen Taylor (b. 1881?)and William James Reynolds in Cork, southern Ireland. The other children were Thomas (b. 1901), Nora(1905?-198?), and Anne Elizabeth (1909-199?). I think they were married in Shannon, Southern Ireland around 1900, after Mary Ellen eloped with William James, when she was aged 18 causing a great deal of scandal (she was from a wealthy family, he was from an army family and had lived for some time in Aden). William was a compulsive gambler, and after gambling away most of Mary Ellen’s money and possessions, he went to America with his brother to ‘seek his fortune’. He returned to Ireland in 1908 or 1909 to see his family and tell them he had found a gold mine in San Fransisco and show them some gold he had found. He returned to America soon afterwards to find his brother had sold the mine and disappeared, and his family in Ireland never saw him again. Mary Ellen received word sometime later that he was in Alameida, San Fransisco and she duly wrote to the Sheriff to ask if he knew of Williams' whereabouts. She never received an answer, but was told some time later that he had been the Sheriff of Alameida which may explain why there was no reply. His family in Ireland were informed of his death in 1950 by his new family in San Fransisco - he had been found shot dead in an alley in that city. James Joseph married Mary Kate Heslin (1902?-1960)(daughter of Hannah O’Brien and James Heslin) in Ireland and they went on to have 5 children: Masie,Grace Anne, Thomas (who died when he was a baby), Bridget ‘Breda’(my mother) and James. They moved to England in the 1930’s and settled in Dagenham, Essex, UK, where my grandfather worked at the Ford Motor Co. I am very curious to know how much of this tale is true and how much is family myth! Anyone who wishes to contact me can do so thru Joe, who has my home address, as I am in the process of setting up my email and so do not have an address as yet.

I really love this site. I am researching the Reynolds family from Wolfe county Ky. My father was Marvin Reynolds born in wolfe county Ky. Oct 8, 1928. His father was James Riley Reynolds born in 1883, mother was Nannie Jane Spencer. James' father was Henry Reynolds. James' mother was Susan or Susanna Spencer Reynolds. I know little else about James except that he had a brother named William (whom we knew as Zion) and a brother named Joseph who migrated to Cincinnati, Ohio. He also had two half brothers Otis and Arnold Napier and three half sisters Edna, Leona and Lula. I have no idea where the family began, if they came from England, Ireland, or where , or if they came to America from the Carolinas or the Northern states. I can go back as far as my great grandfather and then things get dim. My father William E. Reynolds, my Grandfather William Nathan Reynolds and my Great-Grandfather Robert Lenox Reynolds all from Brunswick Co., NC. I've been told stories that I am a decendent of Rachel Milcon Reynolds from Northern Ireland. Brunswick Co. is full of the Reynolds family, old Brunswick Town just below Wilmington, NC is where my family settled. It's ironic that I named my oldest Daughter Rachel, then I have Leah and then Jesse (Jessica)

Wonderful site! My maternal grandmother was Flossie Mae Reynolds [b 1892, Cass Co IA; d 1984, Atlantic IA]. Her parents were William Harrison Reynolds [b 1847, d 1913, probably in Iowa] and Lillian Irene Luccock [b 1862, Lexington, McLean Co, IL; d abt 1952, Cass Co, IA] married 1885 (in Cass Co?). His parents were Benjamin Christopher Reynolds [b 1812, d abt 1910, location unknown] and Mary Lower [b abt 1820, d abt 1909] married before 1847. Does anyone out there know anything about Benjamin or William? I haven't found anything yet, but will keep looking. Thanks!

I can trace my line back to 1505 in England, 14 generations. Christopher Reynolds journed on the ship “Francis and John” to Virginia, and was a survivor of the great indian massacre of 1622. I’m willing to share the information I have with anyone who is trying to link up to this particular line.
