- Attended school to 8th grade, began in Sacred Heart Academy went to Pleasant Grove in 8th grade. Worked for Western Union as a teenager, drove a cab in Seminole and Lawton. Won Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Silver Star in WW II, fighting in Africa and Sicily. Learned diesel engineering at Okmlgee A&M after WW II finished high school by correspondence in 1959. Union rep for Union of Operating Engineers in 1961-62. Earned his living as diesel engineer and all around mechanic. Enjoyed light Italian Opera and Western Music.
