    • Yakima Herald Republic, 19 May 1971: Hugh Harrison Wales, 75, of 1907 Jerome Ave., died Monday evening in the Veterans Hospital, Walla Walla. Mr. Wales was born in Arkansas, where he farmed several years before joining the U.S. Army, serving during World War I. He was in the veterans hospital at Whipple, Ariz., several years, and his family moved to Whipple in 1950. Five years later they all moved to Yakima. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 8. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys A. Wales; two sons, Lindsey of Yakima and John of Selah; two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Jean) Cooper of Kent and Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Fisher of Yakima; two sisters, Mrs. Neely Wilson and Mrs. Nell LeGrande, both of California; two brothers, Richard and Roy Wales, both of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Yakima Herald Republic, 20 May 1971: WALES--Private funeral services for Mr. Hugh H. Wales, 75, of 1907 Jerome Ave., who passed away May 17, in the Veterans Hospital, Walla Walla, will be conducted Friday, May 21, at 1 p.m. in the KEITH & KEITH CHAPEL. Rev. Ronald B. Hill, pastor of Yakima Regular Baptist Church, will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted at the grave in West Hills Memorial Park by the Yakima Valley Chapter No.8, Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Wales was the beloved husband of Mrs. Gladys A. Wales; the father of Mrs. Bob (Jean) Cooper of Kent, Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Fisher and Lindsey Wales, both of Yakima, John Wales of Selah; the brother of Mrs. Neely Wilson and Mrs. Nell LeGrande, both of California, Richard Wales of Arizona; the grandfather of 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
