1630 Vernal James McCarty was of Irish decent and born in Utah to Pennsylvania born parents Joseph and Mary McCarty. Joseph McCarty's parents were born in Ireland and Mary's father was born in Germany and mother in New York. Vernal was 5th born of 8 children who included; May (b. abt 1895), Karena(b. abt 1897), Lillian(b.abt 1902), Ruth (b.abt1905), Dorothy (b. abt 1912), Raymond J. (b.abt 1915) and Donald McCarty (b. 19 Sep 1917-4 Mar 2001). Vernal married Montez Gertrude Fodge on 23 May 1937 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Bakersfield, California. He is laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park next to beloved wife Montez Gertrude McCarty (1917-1979) and little brother, Donald McCarty. McCarty, Vernal James (I9838)

1635 VICKERS, NANCY NAOMI "OMA" BROWN November 19, 1893 - June 4, 1975 Mrs. Nancy N. (Oma) Vickers, 81, of Omaha, died Wednesday in a Naples, TX hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. T. P. Lee and the Rev. Clifford Longino officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. She was a member of the Concord Baptist Church and was a life long resident of the Omaha area. Survivors include a son, J. L. Vickers of Omaha; a daughter Mrs. Marshall (Beulah Lee) Wright of Omaha; four brothers Andy Brown of Nocona, TX; Charlie Brown of Dallas, TX; Clyde Brown of Maud, TX and Stanley Brown of El Paso, TX; three sisters Mrs. Ailene McDonald of Big Springs, TX; Mrs. Margie Barrington of Throckmorton, TX and Mrs. Jo Nell Satterfield of Herford, TX; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 1640 Walter was hit in the stomach while playing Baseball and recieved an internal injury that proved fatal. In a Letter from Anna Mae and Bill (last name unknown as it is not in the letter) " I asked Victor about Walter Reynolds, your father's brother. vic, aid he was 18 years old and played baseball all the time, that he got hit with a ball, in his side and abdomen and was hurt real bad. 1645 Was residing with the family of Jessie Bynum at the 1870's U.S. Census of Blount County, Alabama and undoubtedly accompanied them to Texas in 1872. The Bynums settled in N.W. Ellis County along with numerous other Blount County families. Jessie's cousin, Rev. Asa Bynum (1806-1886) was one of the first to settle the area and erected a Methodist Church at what is known as Oak Branch Campground, "about 5 miles SW of Waxahatchee". Jessie Bynum, son of Asa and Rebecca Murphree b. 31 Jul 1871 in TN and died 18 Nov 1897 Mountain Peak, TX, Ellis County, and buried Mountain Peak Cemetery, married Eliza Clowdus 17 Nov 1836 in Blount County (Mother of Sarah "Sallie" Clowdus). S.A. first appears on Ellis Co. Tax Rolls 1881 with 2 horses or mules, valued at $65, one cow $10, and a wagon $20. Ellis Co. Deed Records (V40/217) show he paid $90 to his father in law for 36 acres of land in the David Reynolds (AK A A.A. Stewart) headright 26 Jan 1881. K.J. and S.A. Wadsworth sold this land to Kizzia's brother, John C. Reynolds for $360 cash and notes (V.40/218). This land was located on the waters of South Creek, about 3 miles SE of the cemetery at Mountain Peak, where Kizzie's sister was buried. Apr 1881. Andy last appears on Ellis Co. Tax Rolls in 1886 with 4 horses $120, four cows and a wagon $40. Not long after this, the family removed to Brown County settling on a 150 acre farm one mile south of Zephyr, Texas. Andy joined the Ancie NT Free and Accepted Masons at Zephry Lodge #591and received his Masonic Degrees 30 Jan, 27 Feb, & 26 Mar 1904. He served as Titer in 1904, 1908, 1909 and 1914 and as Stewart from 1905-1906. He demitted (left) Zephry Lodge 28 Nov 1925 and died four years later in Eastland County, Texas. Wadsworth, Solomon Andrew (I7796)

1650 When Perry and Mary Harper left the Borger, Texas area for Garden Grove, California Benny harper and his wife Lorraine went with them. Benny went to work on a tuna boat out of Long Beach, California that went all the way down off the coast of South America. In 1945 Benny was already living apart from Lorraine and his children and living with Aunt Mary and Uncle Perry. At some time in 1967 or 1968 Bennie left California and went to live with Aunt Mary in Van Horn, Texas. He died there in 1968 of lung cancer and is buried in Van Horn.
